China has donated two utility vehicles to Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and improving the ministry’s operational capacity.
The vehicles were officially handed over on Friday during a ceremony at the ministry’s headquarters in Freetown.
Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Wang Qing said the donation reflects Beijing’s continued commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s institutional efficiency and diplomatic engagement.
“This contribution signifies more than material support; it represents China’s steadfast partnership and confidence in Sierra Leone’s role in advancing our shared goals,” Wang said.
Foreign Minister Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba received the vehicles on behalf of the government and described the gesture as further evidence of the long-standing friendship between the two nations, which began 54 years ago.
He said China has played a key role in Sierra Leone’s development, citing the construction of landmark projects such as the National Stadium and the Youyi Building, as well as assistance during the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks.
Kabba said cooperation between the two countries continues to expand across areas including education, scientific innovation, defense, and trade.
The ceremony ended with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation and strengthening diplomatic ties.
