One Emma Morlia Sesay was on Tuesday 28 January, 2025 sent to prison in Freetown by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2, Freetwon for alledgely stealing a week old baby from the biological parents.
The accused who made her first appearance in Court was arraigned in the dock on a count charge of Child Stealing Contrary to section 56 of the offense against the Person Act of 1861.
According to the indictment, the accused on Wednesday 13th November, 2024 at Fort Street, in Freetown stole one week old baby boy named, Mustapha Sesay from the Child’s parents.
The accused pleaded not guilty of the offense after the charge was read to her.
At this juncture, the prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Florence M Wilson sought for a short adjournment date indicating that she had not had proper talks with the witness to testify before the court.
The accused was represented by defense Lawyer Musa who made an application for bail on behalf of the accused person.
But , Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused at the Female Correctional Facility .
The case comes up on the 30th January, 2025 for further hearing.
