The UBA Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to education and youth development in Sierra Leone, participating in the 7th National Spelling Bee Competition held in Freetown.
The event, which took place on April 11, brought together primary school pupils, educators and parents for the preliminary stage of the national competition aimed at promoting literacy and academic excellence.

Representing United Bank for Africa in Sierra Leone, External and Media Relations officer Augustine Martin said the bank’s involvement reflected its broader commitment to investing in education and youth empowerment.
He said the initiative was part of the UBA Foundation’s programmes designed to support learning, confidence-building and critical thinking among young people.
UBA said it continues to support initiatives such as the National Essay Competition and other education-focused programmes across the country.
The spelling bee competition is part of a wider effort to improve literacy levels and encourage academic competition among schoolchildren in Sierra Leone.
Organisers said the programme is intended to identify and nurture talent while promoting educational development nationwide.
