UBA Foundation and Orange Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance digital inclusion, community health infrastructure, and maternal care across Sierra Leone. The signing took place on Tuesday, 3rd February, and marks the beginning of collaborative efforts to enhance healthcare delivery nationwide.

The first joint project under this partnership is the complete renovation of the York Peripheral Health Unit (PHU) Maternity Clinic, a key facility providing maternal healthcare services.

Dr. Austin Demby, Minister of Health, praised the collaboration, stating:
“Health is a national priority. Public-private partnerships are vital to achieving zero maternal deaths. Thank you, UBA and Orange, for this bold step.”

Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, MD/CEO of UBA Sierra Leone, highlighted the human impact of the initiative:
“No child should lose their first breath due to a lack of technology. At UBA, we go beyond banking to build a healthier, stronger Sierra Leone.”

Aïcha Touré, CEO of Orange Sierra Leone, added:
“UBA Foundation’s work in education, empowerment, and sustainability since 2004 aligns perfectly with our pillars, making this partnership strategic and impactful.”

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Sanitation, executives from both organizations, development partners, and members of the media, demonstrating the power of collaboration in tackling national health challenges.

Together, these efforts aim to save lives and improve maternal healthcare outcomes across the country.
