Each time I write and or talk about a topic of this nature, I try as best as possible not to generalize, but in all of the assertions, I make clear how every profession may fit into the narrative. Even for those that think that much is not happening with them, I present situations that do not look low on anyone and so as you read through, you’d likely come to the realization that this subject clearly suits all of us. Let’s get going!
These days, it may be ‘very easy’ to assert that Sheku Putka Kamara is a successful Journalist and Lecturer, but what many see today as some enviable success story started from scratch; just like a number of, if not all others’. Did you know that as a student/journalist, I began volunteering at Radio Mount Aureole with no hope for any stipend and even when I began getting the stipend, it was just One Hundred Thounsad old Leones (Le 100,000) then; today, One Hundred Leone (NLe 100). Imagine that, but even at that, the love and passion for the microphone and journalism were all that mattered. Today, the rest they say is history, but just if we are to learn anything from that narrative; it is to believe that when the time is right and ripe, anything could happen.
By the title of this article, you would have realized that I am going to talk about how it is necessary for young people or maybe ‘people’ in general to go in for the right and set skills and yearn for mastery. With that, all other things would fall just in place and time. This write-up is likely for everyone, but maybe, particularly or more so for our young and not too young, but energetic students and how some of them have the instant urge to make thousands and millions, instantaneously. Whiles it is not a crime to dream big, putting in all the hard work, with dedication, commitment and a prayer of faith should not be treated with levity.
Today, if you ask me how much I have made and still make in media, journalism and lecturing, I may not get a hold of the right figures and so if you’re to learn anything from that; do what you would and could and do so rightly. You are likely seeing this piece as some motivation. You are not too wrong and so let’s make the most out of it. With today’s information age, young people actually stand better chances to make things work and happen. However, it is a matter of setting priorities right. Whiles finances are very essential, I will encourage anyone, any day, to learn the work and accordingly, too. The end would surely be rosy.
Like others would say, we just have to trust the processes. I am very convinced that everyone has some unique traits in him or herself, but the urge to get to this realization is significantly important. Many a time, I am likely going to focus on young people each time I write on topics of this nature. This is particularly so because, I see myself as someone that relates with a number of them and maybe another unique quality is to be able to relate with all others; even those below and above whatever age bracket. I am very concerned that most people want the QUICK CASH and sometimes, just like that. Let me say this. You must spend time, energy and resources to develop yourself.
When you master what you do, you would not need to talk much because and as we all know, talents speak louder. These optimistic tendencies did not come over night. Years of hard work, dedication and a sense of purpose are clearly vital. It is very obvious that I had written on similar topics and so maybe, I need not overstate how much this is dare to me. If all of us are able to do those right and apt things, things may be much-better for all and sundry. This is important and so we should not treat it with levity. I will resist the temptation of writing a thousand words and over for obvious reasons, but just so we remind ourselves, get the talent and do the job. With that and with time, you may attain the professional status in no time.
