Abubakar Sesay, a 25 year old Student has on Tuesday 1st October 2024 dragged to court before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 for allegedly impersonating as a police officer.
The accused made his first appearance and was charged with two count charges of personation contrary to section 3 of Cap 34 of as amended by section 3 of the Personation and Uniform Amendment Act No.13 of 1975 and unlawful possession contrary to section 13 (1) Cap 37 as amended by section 5 of Act No.6 of 1981
According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 15th September 2024 at #15 Will Street Freetown, he not being a member of the Sierra Leone Police force assumed character was found wearing the Sierra Leone Police uniform trousers without lawful authority
Whiles count two added that the accused on the same date and place was found with one pair Sierra Leone Police rain coat jacket and one pair Sierra Leone Police uniform trousers reasonable suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor DPC 18235 Thoronka K.K informed the court that his witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed in the circumstances requested for a short adjournment to subpoena them.
Magistrate Bangura however granted the accused person bail in the sum of twenty thousand new Leones with two sureties in like sum and sureties must be resident in Freetown and must be responsible citizens whiles the bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to the 21st October 2024 for further hearing.
