The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) on Tuesday marked International Hygiene Day with a public health campaign promoting handwashing and sanitation practices at the port in Freetown.

Medical staff from SLPHA’s Technical Department led the exercise, washing and sanitizing the hands of employees and visitors entering the port as part of efforts to curb the spread of infections and maintain a safe working environment.
The initiative underscored the role of healthcare workers, particularly nurses, in protecting public health. The medical team said it remained committed to sustained awareness, preventive care and service delivery within the port community.
SLPHA said the activity forms part of its broader efforts to enhance staff welfare and uphold high public health standards across its operations.
