Sierra Leone’s judiciary will host the ECOWAS Judicial Council Conference for the first time, marking a milestone for the country’s judicial system, officials said.
The conference, scheduled for April 20–24 at the Atlantic Hotel, will bring together senior judicial figures from across West Africa under the framework of the Economic Community of West African States.
The event is expected to attract about 12 chief justices, 15 judges and other senior judicial officials from member states.
It will be chaired by Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice Komba Kamanda, underscoring what officials describe as the country’s growing role in regional judicial cooperation.
The Judiciary of Sierra Leone said hosting the conference represents a significant achievement and an opportunity to strengthen legal collaboration, judicial independence and regional integration within ECOWAS.
Officials say discussions are expected to focus on judicial reforms, cross-border legal cooperation and strengthening the rule of law across member states.
