Sierra Leone FA offers free buses for fans to World Cup qualifier in Monrovia

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) will provide free buses to transport fans to Monrovia, Liberia, for the Leone Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia on Tuesday, the federation said.

The initiative, launched by SLFA President Babadi Kamara, aims to boost support for the national team during the crucial fixture at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium.

Four buses will depart from the Southern Arena in Bo at 4:00 a.m. on matchday, carrying supporters to Monrovia, the SLFA said in a statement late Friday. Upon arrival, fans will be offered food and match tickets at the Colony Hotel before heading to the stadium. After the game, the buses will return to the hotel for refreshments before making the journey back to Sierra Leone.

Seats are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans from all regions are required to converge in Bo to join the trip, the association added.

Kamara, elected SLFA president in 2021, has made fan engagement a priority of his tenure. “This initiative is part of President Kamara’s commitment to bring fans closer to the national team and ensure maximum support for Leone Stars on the international stage,” the federation said.

The Leone Stars, who are seeking to qualify for the World Cup for the first time, face Ethiopia in a Group A clash after a mixed run of results in earlier qualifiers.
