Sierra Leone national football team have been drawn in a difficult Group E alongside DR Congo national football team, Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The draw for the qualifying campaign was conducted by the Confederation of African Football in Cairo on Tuesday ahead of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
Group E is expected to be one of the more competitive pools in the qualifiers, with DR Congo and Equatorial Guinea both recent regulars at major continental tournaments, while Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone will also be aiming to secure qualification spots.

CAF said 48 nations were divided into 12 groups of four teams, with the qualification campaign scheduled to begin later this year.
The 2027 tournament, branded AFCON Pamoja 2027, will mark the first time the competition is jointly hosted by three East African countries.
