FREETOWN – President Julius Maada Bio has delivered a sweeping address to Sierra Leone’s 6th Parliament, outlining key achievements from the past year while presenting a vision focused on economic growth, accountability, and inclusive development.
Highlighting gains in food security, education, healthcare, and digital transformation, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its “Big 5 Game Changers” strategy. He reported progress in reducing food imports, expanding rural infrastructure, training teachers, and digitizing public services.
President Bio also touted increased domestic revenue, reduced public debt, and ongoing reforms to tackle corruption and improve public financial management. He pledged to create 500,000 jobs over five years, particularly targeting youth and women.
With major investments in energy, roads, water, and transport, Bio painted a picture of a country on the rise, while stressing the need for unity, resilience, and people-centered governance.
“This mission is bigger than politics,” he told MPs. “We will walk that road with you—every step of the way.”
