LONDON, May 18– Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has arrived in the United Kingdom ahead of a series of high-level engagements at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, State House said on Saturday.
Bio is scheduled to deliver a presidential address on May 17 at the Oxford Africa Conference 2026, organised by the university’s Africa Society.

He is also expected to return to Oxford on May 18 to give a lecture on democracy at the Schwarzman Centre, focusing on governance and political development.
The president will later travel to Cambridge, where he is set to speak at the Africa Together Conference 2026 on May 22.
State House said the engagements form part of efforts to strengthen international dialogue and showcase Sierra Leone’s perspectives on governance, development and Africa’s global role.
The visits to Oxford and Cambridge—two of the world’s leading academic institutions—are expected to bring together scholars, policymakers and students to discuss issues affecting the continent.
Bio’s office said the trip highlights Sierra Leone’s participation in global academic and policy discussions, though further details of bilateral meetings, if any, were not immediately disclosed.
