The Kenema Old Students Association (KOSA) of Government Secondary School has taken legal action against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Sierra Leone over the cancellation of a top student’s 2025 WASSCE results.
The lawsuit, filed through lawyer Pa-Momo Fofanah, challenges WAEC’s decision to cancel the results of Unpha Lamin Koroma, whose performance had initially been ranked among the strongest in the country, according to the association.
The case follows weeks of controversy involving the withholding and cancellation of results for more than 50 candidates from the school.
WAEC Sierra Leone has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
The West African Examinations Council is responsible for administering the West African Senior School Certificate Examination across member countries, including Sierra Leone.
The matter is expected to test the examination body’s procedures for result verification, cancellation and appeals, which often draw scrutiny from schools and parents across the region.
