Mohammed Bangura Faces Backlash Over Alleged Neglect of Constituency 066

More News

Member of Parliament Hon. Mohammed Bangura, representing Constituency 066 in the Karene District under the All People’s Congress (APC), is facing mounting criticism from constituents who accuse him of neglect, unfulfilled promises, and poor representation.

Residents of Gbogbodo Town, Sanda Magbontor Chiefdom, and surrounding communities have openly expressed frustration over what they describe as the MP’s failure to deliver tangible development since his election to Parliament.

“We are disappointed in Hon. Mohammed Bangura—not only for his bad politics but for his lack of commitment to the people who voted for him,” one angry resident told PR .

“He has done nothing meaningful for us, except pursue his own interests while we continue to live in poverty.”

According to several community members, the only visible project initiated by Hon. Bangura in the constituency is an unfinished building, which they describe as “a symbol of neglect and broken promises.” The structure, which was expected to serve as a community center, reportedly remains abandoned and incomplete years after construction began.

Residents further allege that the MP rarely visits his constituency and has failed to address pressing concerns such as poor road infrastructure, lack of clean water, limited healthcare facilities, and the absence of livelihood support for farmers and youth.

“We hardly see him,” another resident lamented. “When he needs our votes, he comes with big promises—but after elections, we are left on our own. Our roads are still bad, and young people have no opportunities.”

Political observers note that the growing dissatisfaction in Constituency 066 reflects a broader public demand for greater accountability from elected officials, especially those representing rural and underdeveloped areas.

The criticism of Hon. Bangura has also reignited debate over the role of Members of Parliament in promoting local development and whether MPs should focus primarily on legislation and oversight or direct community projects.

Hon. Mohammed Bangura is a well-known figure in Sierra Leone’s political landscape. Before entering Parliament, he served as Minister of Information and Communications under the previous APC administration. He was also a key spokesperson for the party during several national debates and is regarded as one of the APC’s most outspoken politicians.

However, his career has been punctuated by controversy. Bangura has faced criticism over alleged arrogance, divisive rhetoric, and inconsistent engagement with grassroots supporters. In Karene District, many voters initially viewed his election as an opportunity to bring visibility and government attention to their remote communities — expectations that, according to residents, have not been met.

Political analysts say that if Hon. Bangura fails to rebuild public trust and deliver concrete results before the next election cycle, his political future in Karene could be at risk.

Despite repeated attempts, Hon. Mohammed Bangura could not be reached for comment on the allegations made by his constituents.

As public anger grows, residents say they are determined to hold their representative accountable in the next election, vowing to support “a leader who listens, visits, and delivers.”
