The Board of Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) on Monday 14th October, 2024 has approved over $72M Financing for the Kambia-Tonko Limba – Tomparay Road Construction Project in Sierra Leone.
The approval of financing of the road construction marks a significant step towards improving the country’s infrastructure.
The project aims to enhance transportation links in the northern regions, particularly benefiting Kambia and Bombali districts.
This road will not only boost connectivity for farmers but also facilitate regional trade and socio-economic development.
This initiative will address longstanding concerns over the deteriorating state of the Kambia-Tonko Limba road, which has been a major obstacle for local transportation, especially during the rainy season. The road has been in disrepair for years, with previous governments failing to deliver on promises to rehabilitate it.
This approval of funding signals renewed hope for the residents of Tonko Limba, as it is expected to improve access to essential services and stimulate job creation in the area.
