At a press conference held on Friday, April 4, 2025, ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Keifela revealed that the commission had been investigating Brima and the two other officials — Secretary Bawoh and Financial Officer Bah — for the past five months. Keifela detailed how the funds, which were meant to support football infrastructure, training programs, and other developmental projects, were misappropriated for personal gain. "The funds meant for the betterment of Sierra Leone's football were diverted into private accounts, an act of blatant corruption and abuse of office," a civil rights activist said. "Our investigation has uncovered evidence of the embezzlement of large sums of money, including grants from CAF and FIFA. This is a serious blow to the future of football in our country." Keifela said . According to Keifela, Brima and the two officials were arrested the day before the press conference and had spent the night in police custody.
