The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the provisional reinstatement of Madam Aminata Bangura as a candidate for the 2025 SLFA presidential elections, following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the SLFA confirmed that CAS delivered a provisional decision on July 30, 2025, in response to Aminata Bangura’s appeal against her disqualification by the SLFA Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee had earlier barred her from contesting in the election, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Lungi.
According to the ruling, CAS has directed the immediate reinstatement of Aminata Bangura as a duly qualified presidential candidate pending the court’s final verdict.
With this decision, the updated list of candidates for the SLFA presidential election now stands as:
1. Aminata Bangura (Provisional)
2. Babadi Kamara
3. Umaru Bah
The SLFA Electoral Committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and due process in the conduct of the elections, assuring all stakeholders of a credible and inclusive process.
The final outcome of Bangura’s candidacy will depend on the conclusive ruling from CAS, but for now, she is officially back in the race to lead Sierra Leone’s football governing body.
