Ibrahim Samura, a Bike rider, has on Thursday 19th September 2024, sent to the male correctional facility by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road Court No 1 for the alledge murder of Alfred Jusu.
Samura was presently answering to a count charge of Murder contrary to section 1 of the offense against the person Act of1861 now repealed and replaced by section 1(a) to schedule of the abolition of the death penalty Act 2021 Act No.6 of 2022.
The charge sheet indicated that the accused on Saturday 25th May 2024, at Gloucester village in Freetown, did Murder Alfred Jusu a motor bike-rider.
In his testimony,
Fredrick Hanciles , a farmer and the headman for the said community, recognized the accused Samura and also the deceased Alfred Jusu.
He recalled on the 25th May 2024, adding that on that day in the morning hours, he was at home, when he heard the shout of a lady saying that she saw someone lying down at the first bridge of the community and he looked dead to her.
He said, based on the information, went to the alleged crime scene and upon his arrival, he met the body of the deceased lying on the ground.
Hanciles furthered that he had to ask people around the area to get knowledge of the deceased death, but nobody gave him information.
He said he was left with no option but to call at the Akon police station, and he was asked to make report to them in respect of what he saw.
The witness further said that later he was accompanied by police officers to the scene and they did conduct interview around the community.
He said later the body was conveyed to the Connaught Mortuary.
He added that after sometime, he went to the Station again where he learned that they had arrested someone in respect of the death of the deceased.
The accused was not legally represented in court and so he cross examined the witness by himself.
He was remanded at the Male Correctional Center In Freetown and the matter was adjourned to the 24 September 2024 for continuation.
