The Sierra Leone Bar Association defeated the Sierra Leone Medical Doctors Association 5–1 on Thursday to win the inaugural Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Trophy in a charity football match held at the SLFA Practicing Field in Kingtom, Freetown.

The final, attended by senior members of the judiciary and government, was kicked off by Chief Justice Komba Kamanda, who also serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council. The match drew a large crowd and featured legal and medical professionals competing in a spirited contest aimed at promoting unity and wellness across sectors.

The Bar Association dominated proceedings, securing a decisive 5–1 victory to become the first winners of the newly introduced tournament.

At the closing ceremony, awards were presented by Chief Justice Kamanda alongside Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay and Anti-Corruption Commission Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala, among other dignitaries.

Organisers said the tournament, led by Sierra Leone Bar Association chairperson Tuma Jabbie, was designed to strengthen professional bonds beyond institutional settings and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Kamanda said initiatives of this nature help foster collaboration and mutual understanding among professionals while complementing institutional work.

The Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Trophy is expected to become an annual fixture bringing together members of the justice sector and other professional bodies through sport.
