Officials from the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) and the National Social Protection Authority (NSPA) met on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at NaCSA Headquarters to coordinate efforts for fully operationalizing the newly established National Social Protection Authority.
During the strategic gathering, senior leadership from both organizations reviewed progress on institutional integration, discussed necessary administrative reforms, and reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening Sierra Leone’s social safety net system .
The NSPA, recently formed under the government’s social protection framework, aims to enhance coordination of social assistance and cash transfer programmes nationwide. Hosting the meeting, NaCSA officials emphasized the importance of aligning internal processes and communication channels to ensure a seamless transition as NSPA takes a more central role .
In a statement, NaCSA leadership expressed confidence in the progress made so far and pledged ongoing transparency and dignity-focused updates to staff. They confirmed plans to continue enhancing staff welfare and institutional integrity as operational responsibilities are transferred .
The meeting also aimed to build trust and unity across both agencies as the government ramps up delivery of social services. With both entities consolidating systems, administrative protocols, and governance frameworks, Sierra Leone is one step closer to implementing a national authority designed to coordinate and scale up social protection efforts efficiently .
This coordination marks a significant milestone in transforming Sierra Leone’s social protection landscape, a government priority under its medium-term development plan. As both organizations align resources and capacities, the foundation is set for enhanced delivery of benefits to the country’s most vulnerable populations
