Bo/Kenema – The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Augustine Foday Ngobie, has conducted a series of unannounced visits to Bo and Kenema to monitor the ongoing rollout of the Green Public Works (GPW) project, part of the Government of Sierra Leone and World Bank-funded Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) initiative.
From July 18–19, Mr. Ngobie engaged directly with beneficiaries, city officials, and field staff to assess the integrity and transparency of the project’s implementation, particularly its grievance redress mechanism, which the ACC oversees.
He emphasized the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, urging all stakeholders to follow due process and ensure only eligible individuals—particularly youth, women, and persons with disabilities—benefit from the program.
The GPW aims to provide short-term employment for over 6,000 vulnerable urban youth across six regional cities, including Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Kono, Bonthe, and Port Loko, through activities like waste collection and public space maintenance.
