According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended during a border operation after officers discovered a rifle and military attire in their possession.

The group is being investigated to determine the purpose of their entry into Sierra Leone and whether they violated the country’s immigration, firearms or national security laws.

Security officials said investigations are continuing, including efforts to establish whether the incident was linked to cross-border criminal activity or any other security threat.

The interception comes as Sierra Leone continues to strengthen surveillance along its borders to combat the illegal movement of weapons, smuggling and other transnational crimes, particularly along frontier communities shared with Guinea.

No further details have been released, and the authorities are expected to provide additional information as the investigation progresses.
