In a significant move to boost national security, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) have renewed their commitment to enhanced collaboration through a one-day strategic workshop held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Wizard Complex in Bo City.

The workshop is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at revitalizing inter-agency cooperation among security forces, with a focus on strengthening joint operations, intelligence sharing, and community-centered security strategies.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Sahr Yomba Senesi, speaking on behalf of Inspector General William Fayia Sellu, underscored the historical importance of collaboration between the SLP and RSLAF. He cited their crucial roles during the civil war and in post-war stabilization efforts, including combating rebel insurgencies, preventing cross-border crimes, and facilitating disarmament and reintegration programs.

“Over the years, our partnership has been instrumental in preserving national security,” DIGP Senesi said. “Although there was a decline in inter-agency engagement around 2010, this workshop signals a nationwide effort to rejuvenate and institutionalize that cooperation.”

He also noted that under the current leadership of IGP Sellu and Chief of Defence Staff Major General Amara Idara Bangura, the initiative has expanded to include the Sierra Leone Correctional Services and the Sierra Leone Fire Force—marking a broader, more integrated approach to national security.

Representing the Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier General SDT Ngaujah, Chief of General Staff, reaffirmed RSLAF’s dedication to national development and long-term peace. He announced that similar workshops and joint training exercises will be rolled out in other regions, aimed at reinforcing operational synergy among the country’s security agencies.

The Bo workshop represents a major step toward rebuilding trust and collaboration among Sierra Leone’s key security institutions as they work together to ensure peace, safety, and national stability.
