The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed Mohamed Benson Bawoh as its new General Secretary, with Ishmail Saidu Kanu named Deputy General Secretary, the association announced on Tuesday.
The appointments, approved by the SLFA Executive Committee, take immediate effect.
The SLFA, which oversees football administration in Sierra Leone, is responsible for the organisation of domestic leagues, regulation of clubs, development of grassroots football, and management of the country’s national teams, including the Leone Stars. It operates under the statutes of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The appointment of new senior administrative officials comes at a time when the SLFA is seeking to strengthen its governance, improve institutional efficiency, and enhance the development of football at both grassroots and elite levels across the country.
As General Secretary, Bawoh will serve as the chief administrative officer of the association, responsible for the day-to-day management of the SLFA Secretariat, implementation of Executive Committee decisions, and coordination with regional and international football bodies.
Kanu, as Deputy General Secretary, will support the General Secretary in administrative and operational duties and assist in the execution of programmes aimed at advancing football development nationwide.
The SLFA has in recent years focused on reforms aimed at improving transparency, compliance with international football regulations, and the professionalisation of football administration in Sierra Leone.
