Sept 21 Sierra Leone’s football association received a handover report on Thursday from a committee tasked with reviewing its operations after an August leadership vote, officials said.
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Transition Committee, chaired by Dr. Isaac Massaquoi, presented its findings to the SLFA Executive Committee at a press conference in Freetown. The committee was formed following the SLFA elective congress on Aug. 2 to assess governance, finances, competitions, staffing and coordination with oversight bodies.
“We have completed our task and compiled a comprehensive report,” Massaquoi said. “Our findings highlight systemic weaknesses in governance practices, and we have made recommendations for the Executive Committee to decide on their implementation.”
Receiving the report on behalf of SLFA President Babadi Kamara, who was absent, Vice President Ali Badara Tarawallie praised the committee’s work and said the leadership would study the proposals carefully.
“The Executive had confidence in the calibre of people appointed to the Transition Committee, and their professional output has justified that trust,” Tarawallie said, adding that the association would act “in the best interest of Sierra Leonean football.”
Other executive members, regional football chairmen and Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh attended the ceremony, along with National Sports Authority Deputy Executive Director Abdulrahaman Swarray, representing the government.
The SLFA oversees domestic football and national teams in Sierra Leone.
