Sierra Leone to Launch Nationwide Pay Harmonisation in 2026

More News

By John Koroma

Sierra Leone’s Wages and Compensation Commission will begin a nationwide pay harmonisation exercise in 2026 aimed at aligning salaries across the public sector, according to an official announcement.

The commission said the initiative is intended to address longstanding disparities in pay structures among ministries, departments and agencies, and to promote equity and transparency in public sector compensation.

Details on the scope of the exercise and its financial implications were not immediately disclosed.

The planned reform comes as the government faces mounting pressure from workers’ groups over wage gaps and rising living costs. Authorities have previously pledged to streamline salary structures as part of broader public sector reforms.

Further information on implementation timelines and stakeholder consultations is expected in the coming months.
