The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed Mrs. Patricia Alpha Barrie as its new Finance Director, the association announced on Thursday.
The appointment, effective immediately, was made by the SLFA’s Executive Committee. Barrie will be responsible for overseeing financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning for the country’s governing football body.
The SLFA urged football stakeholders, partners, and members of the football community to support Barrie in her new role.
The appointment comes amid ongoing efforts by the SLFA to strengthen governance and transparency following criticism over financial oversight and management in previous years. The association has also been working to improve its financial reporting, sponsorship deals, and development programs for youth and women’s football.
Details about Barrie’s previous positions or experience were not disclosed, but the SLFA described her as bringing “expertise in finance and administration” to the role.
The SLFA has faced scrutiny from both local and international observers, including FIFA, over governance and financial practices, making the role of Finance Director increasingly crucial in the coming years.
