FREETOWN — President Julius Maada Bio said on Tuesday that Sierra Leone is committed to strengthening its partnership with the European Union following high-level talks held at State House.
Bio said he presided over the annual political dialogue between Sierra Leone and the EU, describing the discussions as constructive and focused on key areas including democracy, the rule of law, regional cooperation and the government’s Medium Term National Development Plan.
“The dialogue reaffirmed our shared commitment to democratic governance, stability and sustainable development,” the president said.
The talks form part of regular engagements between Sierra Leone and the EU aimed at reviewing cooperation priorities and strengthening bilateral relations. The EU is one of Sierra Leone’s major development partners, supporting programmes in governance, infrastructure, health and education.
Bio said his government remained committed to deepening collaboration with the bloc as it pursues economic reforms and long-term development goals.
