Freetown, Sierra Leone – The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has officially launched ECOWAS Free Roaming services, allowing mobile phone users in Sierra Leone to travel to Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, and Liberia without incurring extra roaming charges.
The new initiative, which took effect on August 7, enables subscribers on Africell and Orange networks to receive free incoming calls for 30 days, and make calls or use mobile data at local rates while abroad. QCell is expected to join the program soon.
The move is part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s broader commitment to improving affordable regional connectivity for citizens, tourists, and businesses. NatCA has pledged to expand this service to more ECOWAS countries in the near future.
