A statement from the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has said that the Station Manager of VOPAD radio 96.5 FM in Waterloo in the Western Rural District has confessed to the police of hiring thugs who murdered his deputy , Samuel Brima Mattia .
“”According to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) the Principal suspect, Joseph M. Lamin who is the Station Manager of VOPAD Radio 96.5 FM has confessed to orchestrating the killing by hiring people (one Morlai and others ) to kill his deputy Brima Mattia “” the statement said .
SLAJ said this latest development into the investigation being carried out by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) is “”a significant breakthrough in their investigation into the brutal killing of journalist Samuel Brima Mattia.””
According to the statement the Police have swiftly arrested the alleged “”hired killers “and they are helping with the investigation.
It further said that the Journalists Union SLAJ commends the SLP for what it describes as “”their efforts and urges them to ensure justice is served. “”
