H.E. Dr. Samura Kamara, leader of Sierra Leone’s All People’s Congress (APC), has reaffirmed his commitment to electoral justice and denied claims that he is engaged in discussions about the 2028 elections.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Spokesman for the Electoral Justice Campaign, Kamara said any suggestion that he is planning ahead to 2028 while unresolved issues from the 2023 elections remain is false and intended to distract from the campaign’s core mission.
“The fight for Electoral Justice is alive, real, and remains our primary focus,” the statement said. It emphasized that the will of the people, as expressed in the 2023 democratic process, must be respected and verified.
Kamara highlighted the Agreement for National Unity and its Tripartite Recommendations as actionable frameworks for restoring the integrity of Sierra Leone’s democracy. “These recommendations represent a legal and moral framework to restore the integrity of our democracy,” the statement said.
The APC leader, who was a presidential candidate in both the 2018 and 2023 elections, insisted he had not agreed to, nor considered, any arrangements concerning the 2028 elections.
Supporters of Kamara’s campaign were urged to remain focused on the ongoing pursuit of electoral reforms and national reconciliation.
