President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has underscored Sierra Leone’s commitment to South-South and Triangular Cooperation during a courtesy visit by Manssour Bin Mussallam, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC), at State House in Freetown.

The visit coincided with the 3rd Africa High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development, where the OSC was invited due to its strong advocacy for Pan-Africanism and equitable global partnerships.

Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, Amara Kallon, highlighted the OSC’s alignment with Sierra Leone’s strategic focus on fostering mutually beneficial collaborations among Global South nations.

Secretary-General Bin Mussallam expressed gratitude for Sierra Leone’s hospitality and praised President Bio’s leadership in advocating for UN Security Council reforms and addressing key challenges facing the African continent. He emphasized the OSC’s eagerness to see Sierra Leone join the organization, given its demonstrated commitment to sustainable development.

President Bio welcomed the proposal, reaffirming his government’s dedication to human capital development and sustainable resource management.

“Our development strategy prioritizes empowering citizens and leveraging our resources sustainably,” he said. “We are open to meaningful partnerships that can accelerate our progress and foster inclusive growth.”

The visit underscores Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation frameworks that advance sustainable development across the Global South.
