Antalya, Türkiye – April 11, 2025 — President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone and President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu of the Republic of Kosovo held high-level bilateral talks on Friday aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between their two nations.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the ongoing Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye, marked a significant step forward in fostering international partnerships and expanding Sierra Leone’s global engagements.
President Osmani-Sadriu expressed appreciation for the fruitful discussions with President Bio, highlighting the value of such platforms in promoting peace, diplomacy, and sustainable development. She cited Kosovo’s journey from post-conflict recovery to national development as a testament to the power of international cooperation and diplomacy.
She extended a formal invitation to President Bio to visit Kosovo, where he would witness firsthand the country’s advancements in key sectors including trade, agriculture, education, and technology. The Kosovan leader further emphasized the importance of initiating technical work between both countries to identify strategic areas for partnership and to begin drafting the necessary agreements to formalize bilateral cooperation.
President Bio welcomed the invitation and praised the mutual commitment to peace and development. He reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s willingness to work closely with Kosovo in various sectors, particularly agriculture, trade, health, education, and tourism. He also endorsed the proposal to begin technical cooperation discussions and underscored the need to transform diplomatic engagements into tangible outcomes for citizens.
The bilateral talks between the two leaders come at a time when Sierra Leone is actively seeking to broaden its international alliances and leverage global partnerships to drive national development.
