I love trees

I love trees
trees that give us a shade
of cover from the scorching sun
and the heat that ensues from the wind.

I love trees
trees that produce flowers
with a delicacy of sweet aroma permeating
the atmosphere under small and big trees.

I love trees
trees that give us different kinds
of fruits that we eat and grow healthy
and our lives are replenished with energy.

I love trees
but these trees block the light from the sun
producing an ever-present greyness under them
with no fruits to make us grow strong and well.

I love trees
but these trees are shadeless and lifeless.
I love trees
but these trees are flowerless and fruitless.
