Organise to disorganise
By Saidu Bangura.
We are what we are made to believe.
They say we are a resistant people –
We are survivors of what we believe.
We are survivors of our own existence.
We will reject what we have survived.
They say we are a tolerant people –
We have tolerated only one option –
what we are given – suffering, asperity.
We will daunt what we have tolerated.
How long shall we believe resistance
and tolerance can translate our survival
into the nation our forefathers desired?
Let us abrogate resistance and tolerance
from the annals of our people’s existence.
It is time we organised to disorganise
the industries we have survived to date,
the industries of hopelessness in our land.
Resilience is the sword that has slain us.
