Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken three staff members of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) into custody as part of an investigation into an alleged customs fraud involving NLe300 million, the commission said.

The ACC said the suspects are attached to the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) department of the NRA and are being investigated for allegedly siphoning public funds through irregular customs transactions.
In a separate investigation, the commission said it is probing allegations that diplomatic and service passports were sold to individuals who did not qualify for them at the Immigration Office.
The ACC said both investigations are ongoing and that further action will depend on the outcome of inquiries.
The cases have renewed public concern over accountability and integrity in key government institutions, particularly those responsible for revenue collection and national documentation.
The NRA and the Immigration Department have not yet publicly commented on the investigations.
