Military officers – Mohamed Buya Fofanah and Idrissa Conteh have on Thursday 3rd October 2024 dragged to court before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 over an alleged theft of Solar batteries and panels at SLRA office in Lungi.
The accused made his first appearance and was arraigned on two count charges of Store breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on 16th July 2024 at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) compound Kirma Portloko Road Lungi Kafu bullom Chiefdom portloko District, North-West region broke and entered into the store at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority compound and stole therein six solar batteries, thirty four solar panels all to the total value of seventy nine thousand Leones(79,000) property of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority
While count two further stated that the second accused person on the same date and place did receive two solar panels all to the total value of two thousand Leones(2,000) from Mohamed Boya Fofanah knowing same to have been stolen.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken. The second accused was absent in court.
The prosecutor Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K applied for a bench warrant against the second accused person who was absent in court and sought for a short date to subpoena his witness.
Magistrate Bangura granted the application and remanded the first accused in prison while the matter was adjourned to the 10th October 2024.
