Sierra Leone secured a 2-0 victory over Ethiopia in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on Tuesday, with forward Alhassan Koroma scoring a solo effort that sealed the match at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia.
Koroma dribbled past several Ethiopian defenders before slotting home in the second half, extending the lead and capping a strong individual performance. His strike proved the difference in a contest where both sides created chances but failed to convert.
The result lifts Sierra Leone to third place in their group, moving above Guinea-Bissau by two points. They next face Djibouti away before hosting Burkina Faso in Freetown.
The win also marked the start of Babadi Kamara’s tenure as president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), raising hopes for a revival of the national team’s fortunes under his leadership.
