In a significant move towards reconciliation within Sierra Leone’s football community, Babadi Kamara, Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club, and Thomas Daddy Brima, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), convened on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, for peace talks aimed at fostering unity and progress in the sport.
The meeting, facilitated by Jimmy Batilo Songa, comes in the wake of disruptions that marred the SLFA Ordinary Congress held at Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel on April 5. That event was abruptly canceled due to violent incidents, including the use of pepper spray against officials, which raised concerns about the safety and cohesion within the football fraternity.
During their dialogue at a neutral venue, Kamara and Brima engaged in open discussions, reaffirming their dedication to the advancement of football in Sierra Leone. Both leaders emphasized the importance of prioritizing the sport’s development over personal or organizational differences, underscoring football’s role as a unifying force in the nation.
This accord between Kamara and Brima signals a pivotal step towards healing divisions and promoting collaborative efforts aimed at elevating the standard of football in Sierra Leone. The football community and supporters alike are hopeful that this renewed commitment will translate into tangible progress and a more harmonious environment for all stakeholders involved.
