Police arrest 17

The Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu has informed journalists that the Sierra Leone Police has arrested 17 suspects who are currently in detention helping the Police for investigation.

The IGP made this statement during a press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Freetown. He explained that the apprehended individuals include a total of 17 suspects, comprising 8 middle-level officers, 6 non-commissioned officers, 2 police officers, 1 retired police superintendent, and 2 civilians.

IGP Sellu further disclosed that several other people suspected of involvement in the alleged plots were on the run and that the police were pursuing them.

He said the SLP was working with its neighboring countries and other international partners, through the International Police Organization (Interpol) to secure the arrest of those at large. He also said that they have beefed up security at the country’s borders with its neighbours.

“No matter where you are, as long as that country is part of Interpol, we will get you,” Sellu said. In his final statement, William Fayia Sellu urged the public to remain vigilant and trust in law enforcement agencies as they work diligently to ensure the safety and security of Sierra Leone will not jeopardize.
