Footballer Mohamed Kamara was remanded at Freetown’s Pademba Road Prison today after Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No. 2 sent him on remand for unlawful possession of the prohibited drug “kush.”
Kamara appeared before the court on five counts: collecting, transporting, exposing, dealing in, and possessing a prohibited substance without lawful authority. The charges stem from an incident on 19 March 2025, when police at the Lumley checkpoint allegedly discovered Kamara in possession of kush and accused him of transporting and dealing the drug.
No plea was recorded, as the magistrate deemed the offences sufficiently serious to warrant remand without entering one. Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K. (18235), prosecuting, requested a brief adjournment to finalise witness interviews and evidence preparation.
Magistrate Bangura ordered Kamara held at the male correctional facility pending further hearing. The case was adjourned to 30 April 2025 for continuation of proceedings.
