The Attorney General and Minister of Justice (AG)Mohamed Lamin Tarawally has on Thursday 15th November 2024 dragged one Julian Jusu before magistrate Santigie Bangura of court No2 for allegedly stealing cables valued over twenty five thousand new Leones from the AG.
The accused was arraigned on two count charges of Larceny Contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act of 1861.
The Court the accused , Jusu on Sunday 3rd November 2024 at, Imatt in Freetown, stole and maliciously damaged nine rolls 4 M.M.A.C cables and twelve rolls 2.5 M.M cables, totalling; twenty five thousand, three hundred and fifty Leones(25,350) property of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice , Mohamed Lamin Tarawally . The Court said the stolen cables were in custody of Hassan Turay.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the offense.
The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K tood the court that his witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed with the case. He asked the Court for an adjournment.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to the 18th November 2024.
