Baindu Margai, a business woman was sent to the female correctional center by magistrate Mark Ngegba of court no. 2 for stealing two million leones and a mobile phone.
The accused Baindu Margai was arraigned on one count charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 of the Larceny act 1916. According to the indictment, the police alleged that the accused on Sunday 12th July, 2020 at Hill Station in Freetown fraudulently converted to her own use and benefit certain property to wit the sum of two million leones and one Techno mobile phone valued eight hundred thousand leones all to the total value of two million, eight hundred thousand leones (Le2,800,00) entrusted to her by Alieu Martin for the purpose to deliver to Neneh Martin Kamara.
After the charges were read to her, she pleaded not guilty to the offence. The accused was not represented in court and so no bail application was made.
The accused was however remanded and the matter comes up on the 30th of July, 2020.
