The 16th accused Warrant Officer Class 2 Philip Adikali Turay has on Wednesday 12th June 2024 during the ongoing Courtmartial trial pleaded with the court and the state for urgent medical attention.
He made this plea before judge advocate Mark Ngegba and seven board members, stating that since he was shot on his right hand on the 25th November 2024 at the Arm Forces Personel Center (AFPC) Cockrill, he has not received proper medical treatment to cure him.
He added that when he was shot on that day, he was taken to Dr. Nabieu at the 34 military hospital only once and later taken to special court.
WO2 Turay furthered that nothing much has been done by the government but said only his lawyer Julius Kofie who has been helping him, adding that the wound is very severe and in that light pleaded with the court for urgent medical attention to save his life.
Lawyer Ibrahim A Kamara, defense Counsel for the 2nd, 6th and 15th accused persons however submitted his No case submission on behalf of the 15 accused Sergeant Momoh Kargbo of Forces Recogninance Unit Lungi.
lawyer Julian Cole, defense counsel for the 17th accused Leutinunant colonel Yamba, said he had not been able to complete the said No case submission as against the allocated date in the circumstance requested for a week adjournment to complete and submit the said submission
Lawyer Hassan Thullah also informed the court that he had served his No case submission on the 11th and 25th accused persons respectively.
However, out of the 9 accused persons that were to submit a no case, only 3 were submitted for by their counsel.
The Judge Advocate Mark Ngegba in reply to the application for a week adjournment by the defense Counsel Julian Cole said he would not grant such application.
Lawyer Cole however requested for a shorter date to serve their no case.
State Counsel Lawyer JAK Sesay in reply said in as much as they relied on the evidence led, but said they required some time to go through the No case submission served on them to see if there are any legal issues to respond to and in the circumstance requested for time to do so.
Judge Advocate Mark Ngegba having listened to both sides gave the defense Counsel up to 1700 hours on Wednesday 13th June 2024 to submit their No case on behalf of the remaining accused persons whiles the prosecutors were asked to reply on the 19th June 2024.
The matter was adjourned to 25th June 2024 for further hearing.
