Makeni — Abdul Karim Sankoh, Public Relations Officer of the All Peoples Congress (APC) National Young Congress, has issued a strong warning to party youth members attending the ongoing youth conference not to turn the event into a platform for promoting flagbearer ambitions.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, which is being held under the theme “Stronger Together: Uniting Youths to Build a Victorious APC,” Sankoh reminded participants that the focus of the gathering is to unify and empower young people in preparation for the party’s national resurgence.
“While it’s natural for members to have individual preferences in the party’s leadership race, this conference is not a campaign ground for any flagbearer,” Sankoh cautioned. “Our goal is to build a united, disciplined, and action-driven youth front that can help reclaim national leadership for the APC.”
Sankoh also expressed optimism about the rising tide of youth leadership across the African continent and echoed calls within the APC for a youthful figure to eventually lead the party. He highlighted the growing presence and impact of APC youths even in traditionally SLPP-dominated southeastern regions, signaling a shift in political dynamics.
Closing his address, Sankoh appealed for discipline, focus, and peace throughout the event, urging grassroots members to stay prepared, organized, and unwavering in their commitment to the party’s national comeback. “APC youths are evolving, and with unity and energy, we can secure victory and serve the people of Sierra Leone,” he affirmed.
The APC National Young Congress conference continues with sessions focused on political strategy, grassroots mobilization, and leadership development.
