APC Uncovers Illegal Printing of Membership Cards, Launches CID Investigation

Freetown, 19 May 2025 — The All Peoples Congress (APC) has issued a formal statement following the discovery of an illegal printing operation involving old versions of the party’s membership cards at a printing press on Upper Brook Street, Freetown.

According to the release, the incident occurred on Friday, May 16, when an APC member caught an individual in possession of freshly printed copies of outdated membership cards. The suspect fled the scene after being confronted. The manager of the printing press has since been invited for questioning, and the matter is now under formal investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The party expressed concern that individuals, unable to bypass the newly implemented APC membership verification system, have resorted to reproducing old cards in an attempt to undermine the process and create confusion.

The APC clarified that under the leadership of the current National Secretary General, the party now maintains a comprehensive and verified digital database of members. Any attempts to use or produce cards outside this system are deemed fraudulent and will not be tolerated. Such individuals will be excluded from all party processes, including the ongoing membership verification exercise, as their information will not align with official records.

“It must be unequivocally stated,” the party stressed, “that the old APC membership cards are no longer valid for voting or decision-making. Only the newly issued ID cards will be recognized.”

This transition, APC noted, is crucial for internal order and accountability and was also mandated by both the courts and the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

The statement also condemned efforts by certain individuals to spread misinformation and accuse senior party officials — including those involved in apprehending the suspect — in what it described as a clear attempt to divert attention from the ongoing investigation.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and integrity and called on all members to support the membership verification process as a legal and institutional obligation.
