Public urged to assist in tracing suspects linked to disappearance of high-value government property
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a public “wanted” notice for two employees of the Makeni Government Hospital in connection with the disappearance of high-value solar energy equipment.
The suspects — Mohamed Gbessay Kabia, a Maintenance Officer at the hospital, and James Larkoh, an ambulance driver with the National Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) — are alleged to have played a role in the theft and misappropriation of government property.
According to the ACC, the missing items include 96 OPZ 2000 AMP solar batteries, 7 charge controllers, 2 combiner boxes, 2 converters, and 62 solar panels, all part of critical infrastructure meant to power the hospital.
Kabia, a resident of During Street, Makeni, and Larkoh, who lives at No. 8 Martin Bangura Street, Makeni, remain at large. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.
