Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on Thursday intensified its clean-up and enforcement operations across the Western Area, dismantling illegal garages and unauthorised structures and removing abandoned vehicles in a bid to improve public safety and ease movement.

The operation covered several locations, including Barlatt Street off Syke Street, areas behind St. Anthony Church, and Back Street near the National Stadium.
Police teams cleared road and pedestrian encroachments, dismantled makeshift structures and towed vehicles abandoned along major access routes, actions authorities say were aimed at restoring mobility and reducing spaces vulnerable to criminal activity.
The exercise was led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Sahr Yomba Senesi, alongside the Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General of Police Martin John Senesie.
Speaking during the operation, Senesi said the police were working in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and municipal authorities to reclaim public spaces and maintain order.
“This initiative is intended to deter unlawful activities and ensure safer communities,” he said, warning property owners and operators to comply with regulations by removing illegal structures and abandoned vehicles.
Failure to comply, he added, would result in enforcement action by the police.
The SLP said the clean-up and enforcement drive would continue across the city as part of sustained efforts to maintain public order and security.
