A 32-year-old bread seller and her eight-year-old son are receiving treatment for serious injuries after a partially demolished building collapsed on them on Friday night at Combema Road in Kenema.

The incident occurred at about 9:00 p.m. at 46 Combema Road, where Aminata Jinnah and her son, Emmanuel Pessima, a Class Four pupil, were selling bread by the roadside.
Eyewitness Mohamed Kallon said the pair were standing near a wall when it suddenly gave way, trapping them beneath the rubble.
Aminata sustained a severe leg fracture extending from her lower leg to the ankle and is said to be in critical condition, requiring urgent medical care. Her son also suffered serious injuries.
Both victims are currently receiving treatment at the Kenema Government Hospital. Family sources say plans are underway to take Aminata to her village for traditional treatment.
Meanwhile, construction workers and the owners of the building have reportedly declined responsibility for the incident, claiming they had previously warned Aminata not to sell at the location.
The incident has raised concerns among residents about public safety and accountability at construction and demolition sites in the city.
