Sales Agent  On Remand For Fraud

Ibrahim Idrissa Fornah , a Sales Agent was on Monday 3rd March 2025 sent on remand by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2  for alleged theft of over 460, 000 news leones from Excell Biolife SL Ltd.

The accused made his first appearance and was arraigned on two count charges of embezzlement contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the larceny Act 1916 and money Laundering contrary to section 25 (1) (a) of the Anti-money Laundering and combating of financing terrorism and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction Act 2024, Act No.4 of 2024

According to the Court the “ particulars of offence, the accused on a date unknown between 1st March 2024 and the 27th January 2025 at #20 Circular Road the western area in Freetown being an employee to Excel Biolife SL Limited at #20 circular road in the western area in Freetown whilst serving as sales Agent with the responsibility of distributing pharmaceutical drugs and Receiving payments, fraudulently embezzled the sum of four hundred and sixty thousand seven hundred and nine Leones(460,709) property of Gautam Govind Rath his employer .”

Prosecuting the case , the police further alleged on count two that the accused on the above date and place being an employee of Excel biolife SL Limited  whilst serving as a Sales Agent with the responsibility of distributing pharmaceutical drugs and Receiving payments from customers converted the sum of four hundred and sixty thousand seven hundred and nine Leones(460,709) and built houses knowing same was directly derived from an unlawful activity .

No plead was taken when  the charges were read and explained to the accused person .

The Prosecutor,  Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh sought for an adjournment in order to get proper conference with his witnesses .

Lawyer representing the accused person H.Kamara Esq applied for bail that his Client is a Sierra Leonean resident within the country and that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognisance on his behalf he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jump bail.

 He made his application “”pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.””

 However, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused to the male correctional facility because according to him ; due to the serious nature of the offence charged .

The case comes up again on the 11th March 2025.
